How the three premium smartphones compare

Display
The Google Pixel 9 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Actua OLED display with Full HD+ resolution, an LTPO 1 to 120Hz refresh rate, 495 PPI pixel density, and up to 3000 nits peak brightness. It’s HDR-certified and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED screen with a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 2600 nits peak brightness. It uses the newer Corning Gorilla Armor Glass and is also HDR-certified.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max sports a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with LTPO support and up to a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, reaching up to 2000 nits of peak brightness. A Ceramic Shield protects it.
Performance
The Pixel 9 Pro features Google’s latest Tensor G4 chip and the Titan M2 security chip, along with 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The S24 Ultra, meanwhile, is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. Both phones run on Android 14 and are promised up to seven years of software updates.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max uses Apple’s A17 Pro chipset and offers up to 1TB of storage. It currently runs iOS 17 and will upgrade to iOS 18 soon. Apple guarantees at least five years of software updates for this model.
Camera
The Google Pixel 9 Pro features a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP Octa PD Samsung GNK primary camera, a 48MP Quad PD ultrawide camera, and a 48MP Quad PD telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. For selfies, it has a 42MP Dual PD Sony IMX858 camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with a quad camera setup: a 200MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP periscope lens with 100x digital zoom. It has a 12MP front camera with an f/2.2 aperture for selfies.
The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max offers a 48MP primary camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. All three phones support stable 4K 60FPS video recording with optical image stabilization (OIS).
